AI quiz generator for your own lectures

Practice quizzes built from your own notes, with an explanation for every answer.

Frosted multiple-choice bubbles

DAFi turns each of your notes into multiple-choice quizzes: a short calibration quiz first, then three levels of about ten questions. You get instant feedback, an explanation for every question and a clear recap of what you got wrong.

DAFi's quiz generator writes practice quizzes from the notes it created from your lectures. You don't type a single question: open a note, start the quiz, and answer multiple-choice questions about what your professor actually covered. Every answer comes with an explanation, and every quiz ends with a recap of what you know and what you don't.

Testing yourself is one of the most reliable ways to remember material, far more than rereading (we explain why in our article on active recall). The problem has always been the time it takes to write good questions. That's the part DAFi takes off your plate.

How it works

  1. Create a note. Record a lecture, import your slides or a PDF, add photos of the board or paste a YouTube link. DAFi builds a structured note from it (see AI note-taking).
  2. Take the calibration quiz. About five minutes of questions that give DAFi a first picture of what you already master in that note.
  3. Move through the levels. Quiz 1/3, 2/3 and 3/3 each contain around ten single-answer multiple-choice questions, always based on the content of your note.
  4. Get feedback on every question. You see right away whether you got it right, with an explanation of the correct answer.
  5. Read the recap. At the end, DAFi shows how many answers were correct or wrong, each question marked passed or failed, and your answer next to the correct one. You can restart the quiz whenever you want.

After each quiz, DAFi also updates a revision sheet with the concepts you should work on next. That's the adaptive revision part.

Who it's for

Léa, first-year law student. Her civil law professor talks fast and the slides are dense. She records the lecture, lets DAFi generate the note, and does the calibration quiz on the bus home. The recap shows she confuses two types of contracts, so that's what she reviews that evening instead of rereading forty slides.

Sam, second-year chemistry student. Before a midterm, Sam imports the lab handouts and the lecture PDFs. He goes through the three quiz levels over three days. The questions stick to his course content, so he's not wasting time on a topic his professor never taught.

Tips to get the most out of it

  • Quiz yourself the same day as the lecture. Even a quick calibration quiz shows what didn't land while the lecture is still fresh.
  • Read every explanation, even when you're right. A lucky guess feels the same as real knowledge until the exam.
  • Space the levels out. Doing Quiz 1/3 today and Quiz 2/3 in a few days works better than doing all three in a row. Our spaced repetition guide explains why.
  • Treat the recap as your to-do list. The questions you failed are exactly what to review next.

Frequently asked questions

Can AI really write good exam practice questions?

The questions are generated from your own note, so they cover the concepts, definitions and examples from your lecture. They are practice questions, not a copy of your real exam, but they train the most useful skill: retrieving information from memory. For a full method, read how to turn your course notes into practice exams.

What type of questions does DAFi create?

Single-answer multiple choice. Each question has one correct answer and an explanation. DAFi doesn't create open-ended questions for now.

How many questions are in a quiz?

The calibration quiz takes about five minutes. Each of the three levels then contains around ten questions, depending on how much content your note has.

Can I redo a quiz?

Yes. You can restart a quiz from the recap screen as many times as you like.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. Quizzes are available in the DAFi app on iPhone and iPad and in the web app on a computer.

Your notes already contain the answers. DAFi turns them into questions, so every study session starts with testing rather than rereading.
